Multimedia projects

At the end of the Summer School a contest of multimedia social projects was announced. Journalists or editors of regional Russian TV and radio companies, printing and Internet media, trained in the Summer School of multimedia journalism in Moscow in July, 2009, could participate in the contest.

As stated in the description of the contest, its goal was to promote qualitative and regular reporting on socially relevant issues and increase attention of the audience to these issues through improving professional skills of regional media in the field of innovative media technologies; strengthen the competitiveness of the regional media in the media space through the use of innovative and multimedia approaches.

The works submitted were evaluated by an expert jury consisting of experts in the field of social problems and experts in the field of journalism, of which 5 were teachers of the Summer School. A contest committee met to discuss the results of the experts’ work and develop the procedure of awarding the projects selected by the expert jury.

The jury evaluated the submitted works according to the level of their compliance with the goals and objectives of the program and the directions:
1. Multimedia Category, covering socially significant issues.
2. Series of materials using multimedia technology.
3. Social action / informational campaign using multimedia technologies, developed independently or in partnership with NGO / initiative group of citizens.

15 winners of the competition for social multimedia projects were announced and awarded with grants and technical equipment to implement their projects.
